must agree with you on that. it is disturbing. it's not the religion, though. it's the action. one time this person tried to convert me, i said i'm buddhist, and she said, "it's ok. i understand you have your religion.. but, ..." and continued pushing her point. so obviously she didn't understand.

but anyway. you sounded really annoyed. lol. why don't you drop a comment at the school's office or something?

Annoying Overzealous Christians

Proselytising is something that's really common in Ngee Ann and I have been approached by Christians trying to get me to convert my religion over 15 times over the course of the 2+ years I've spent here.

I know they mean well, and most of them just want to share the merits of their faith but all of the people I've come across have been really pushy and inconsiderate.

It gets pretty annoying listening about how non-christians will be condemned to hell etc etc for the 15th time. In every speech I get this feeling that they're indirectly telling me about how much better their religion is compared to mine, and so I should therefore switch. When I mention that I'm actually a Roman Catholic all of them started drawing comparisons between the two and went about promoting their differences and subtely hint at how Christianity is better. After the inevitable 15 minutes of yak-yak-yaking it would mostly end with a statement of how I should save myself from hell by going to their church.

Every religious sermon I had to sit through lasted at least 15 minutes. The last one I was put through today (they originally asked me to fill in a survey and I agreed thinking it was for their IS module) lasted half an hour even though it supposedly would "only take abit of your time".

The length of it isn't really what bothers me though. What really gets to me is how no one actually listens to what I have to say and just push their beliefs over intrusively and babble on about the same issues I've heard dozens of times before. In the instances where I've said I was in a hurry, that I wasn't interested etc, not once did any of them stop and leave. Without fail, they'd give the "it'll only take a moment" reply. What the #)#$ ?

The only time I've managed to get away from a religious touting session was when I literally ran off after saying I was busy. These people do not take "no" for an answer.

These overzealous Christians come across TO ME as threatening and ignorant and boy I hope my school does something to stop such harrasments from happening all over campus.

This may come off as a rude blog post bashing Christians but I'm actually really cool with normal Christians that don't go about proselytising forcefully. So Christians reading this please don't take offense lol.

Thoughts? Anyone?
