Hey gals, I actually wanted to post this last week when i read the news article but didnt..
Ok, this is the story:
An ailing 80++ old man living in kg bahru i think, is hoping for someone to clean up his house. He is a lonely man who has neither kin nor people he can depend on apart from some welfare staff who comes once in a while to deliver food stuff to him. He NEEDS to clean up his house coz his neighbors have made complaints about bed bugs (from the old man's unit) invading their houses. But thats not the key reason why we should help. Truth is, the old man is not spared from the bugs either. Hes suffering badly from some skin allergy that is apparently caused by the bites. His pillow has even turned black. (yes, it was really black from the photo shown on the article). The reporter actually asked him why didnt he clean up the house and he said he doesnt have the strength to do so. He is desperately wishing for someone to render help.
So if anyone is interested to help in any way, i will dig out the article and email the reporter to see if we can arrange to help this pathetic old man. But of coz, volunteers needs to be:
1) not scare of dirtiness
2) not afraid of bugs
3) able to chip in little cash (to get him some necessities)
updates: found the article already so am able to contact the reporter anytime but will most probably send the email on tue ^^

hey i can help! tt article featured in which newspaper??
but i have some queries:
why aren't the welfare ppl doing something abt it then especially when they can see for themselves the state of the flat when they come and deliver food??
and are there any hazards involved (in cleaning)? hahah not saying that if there are, then im not gg to help. just tt we gotta take note of some preparations to protect ourselves
ps: i think it shld be kin not kins;)
hey~
i read that in a chinese newspaper a week ago ^^ i guess theres not much danger involved apart from some inevitable bug bites or bug scares.. lol.. from the article description, theres nothing much in his house except for a bed that is infested with bed bugs.. the welfare people.. erm.. maybe housing cleaning is not within their scope? im not sure of that though.. but thanks for wanting to help!
i will go dig out the papers then update you again ^^
haiz, i emailed the reporter for quite some time but no reply from her so i guess its impossible for us to help this old man now :(
