hi. today i went to jurong point to pick my mom's letters. they recently opened a new extension. it's crazy big. and today's sunday so the crowd's really shitty. i have two major complaints on singapore these days (lol): it's getting real crowded. with population increase like this, someone's got to channel all the people to different areas probably? the second one is the new buses with less seats. well i guess the two are linked. pardon me for my grumbles.

but anyhow. what i wanted to talk about is this consumerism! on a good note, i don't think singapore's getting a recession yet. you'd think that when you walk in town, but in jurong point! there are new shops selling totally "useless" things that fuel this consumerism and this "need" to keep buying stuff. i mean shops like "stationery island" and "ideas inc" i do enjoy looking through nice, interesting stuffs. (and i buy them sometimes). but still i wonder, aren't we getting really too deep into this materialism? i don't have a solution. i don't even have opinions. i just felt this.. overwhelming rush of consumption there. and then while i was picking up those letters a cleaning aunty was complaining to her friend about how much junk there is to clear everyday. but ya no wonder.

actually imo in these times,we need (moderate) consumerism to no consumerism at all to stimulate the economy...
